The National Gallery

An Overview

Our client, Willmott Dixon, furthered their track record of transforming London’s iconic buildings by refurbishing key interior elements of the prestigious National Gallery, in the heart of Trafalgar Square, London. The refurbishment of this historic, grade I listed building was carried out with utmost care and precision, so as not to disturb the original foundations and complex architectural structure of the gallery. Home to the work of artists such as Da Vinci, Monet and Van Gough, Sinclair Surfaces helped to restore a sense of grandeur and elegance to some of the newly fitted office spaces within.

The Strategy

Over the final few months, our team worked alongside Willmott Dixon to achieve immaculate results. This high-profile nature of this project carried with it high pressure, high expectations and a pressing handover date. We worked day and night to help WDI attain completion in time for the reopening of the gallery, and the lifting of restrictions due to the pandemic. We strived to reach a perfect and aesthetically pleasing result for our client.

Project Highlights

Our expertise on this project included: repairing and respraying black high-gloss rain water pipes, specialist glass polishing to internal balustrades, repairs to vinyl flooring, internal wooden doors and wooden communal lift panels. High-quality craftsmanship was expected; we not only

achieved this, but as a direct result of our work, Willmott Dixon recommended our services to three other subcontractors also working on the project. We secured work with all of them and undertook further work at the National Gallery, and on further projects since.
