Old Admiralty Building

An overview

In another partnership with our client, Willmott Dixon, we recently finished large-scale refurbishments on the Old Admiralty Building. Widely recognized as the former headquarters of the British Navy and, of course, the home of Winston Churchill when he was First Lord of the Admiralty, the grade II listed landmark has now been transformed into modern office space for the Government. This highly esteemed heritage project meant that attention to detail was extremely important, and careful work was implemented by our restorations team over the course of one year to ensure the desired end result.

The Strategy

Throughout lockdown, Sinclair Surfaces assisted Willmott Dixon with the surface repairs of the new, flexible working environment, available for up to 2,400 Government officials. We provided a small team of full-time operatives that worked throughout the whole period, showcasing their specialist skill set and unparalleled work ethic. Utilising our expertise in this historic landmark was a brilliant experience for our team; we carried out a large number of services, including: French polishing to original woodwork throughout the building, extensive repairs to newly fitted units and workstations, further repairs to WC cubicles, window frames, damaged floor boxes and complex ceiling restoration.

Project Highlights

As a result of the high calibre repairs and restorations produced at the Old Admiralty Building, we were approached by Willmott Dixon to further our services at the National Gallery, encouraging a loyal and enduring partnership. Although this project did not have a particularly pressing deadline, we ensured ultimate efficiency and attentiveness to both preserve and restore the true essence of this national treasure.
